Eat2Explore Review: Exploring Ethiopian Food Together
Exploring world cultures through food is a great way to bring hands-on learning into your home, and Eat2Explore helps make it incredibly easy. We had lots of fun exploring Kenyan food in October, and in November we were able to try out some Ethiopian food together.

The Eat2Explore kit came with everything we needed to create a traditional Ethiopian meal, including spices, recipe cards, a shopping list for ingredients, and a new culinary tool designed especially for kids. The kit also included a fun activity booklet with facts about Ethiopia, making it easy to integrate into our Ethiopia unit study.
The Ethiopia kit includes 3 traditional recipes:
- Doro Wat, Ethiopia’s iconic spiced chicken stew
- Tibs Wat, a flavorful Ethiopian stir-fry
- Misir Wat, a traditional vegetable stew
My kids decided to prepare Tibs Wat first, since stir-fry dishes are always a favorite in our house!
They completed most of the prep themselves, dicing the tomatoes and onions, juicing the lime, rinsing and preparing the rice, washing and cooking the kale, and seasoning and stir frying the beef.

As always, preparing meals together with my kids is always a fun experience. My youngest particularly liked using the new juicing tool that was included in the kit, while my oldest was interested in learning about Ethiopian spices like berbere – a unique flavor that we had never tried before.

Whether you’re looking to supplement our “Around the World” studies or simply looking for a fun and unique family activity, Eat2Explore is a wonderful way to combine learning, cooking, and making memories together.
